Hydrotherm Massage

An Ayurvedic holistic massage using a three dimensional massage technique carried out on two cushions of warm water. The client is positioned facing upwards on the cushions which creates a perfect spinal alignment during the treatment and means the therapist uses the client’s own body weight as a source of pressure. Pregnancy Treatment Q&A

Is getting massaged during pregnancy safe?
The short answer is YES! All our therapists are fully trained and insured in how best to carry out massage during pregnancy safely. A consultation will always be done to make sure there are no health issues that would stop the treatment from being carried out. Our massage training has been written by fully qualified midwives so as to ensure the safest possible experience during pregnancy.

What other treatments can I have?
Any of our holistic facials are safe to have during pregnancy, and any aromatherapy oils used during these facials can be changed to be suitable for a pregnant client. Again, our therapists will discuss skin concerns/allergies or sensitivities with you before hand. All our manicures and pedicures are suitable as is our Thai foot massage.

Is there a cut off date for getting a massage?
As long as you are comfortable and have no existing health issues we can massage up until the due date, however you may be more uncomfortable at this late stage.

How far along do I have to be?
You must have had your 12 week NHS scan before we can carry out treatments during pregnancy. Private early scans are not counted.

What treatments are NOT safe?
Any of our other massage treatments and spa treatments which involve you lying on your stomach or on your back flat will not be suitable. Most of our treatments will be adapted in some way to make sure we can carry out safe treatments comfortably for you.

I won't be lying flat on my back will I?
No! Our Hydrotherm massage uses warm water filled cushions which allow your body to be positioned in a natural comfortable position with your legs elevated. The back of the massage bed will be raised to a 15 degree angle AT LEAST. Our Lava Mama massage is carried out with you lying on each side. You will be asked to lie on your right side for a much shorter time than on your left.
